police scanner
Adam M asked:

I have listened to radio/police scanners for the longest time now. I have listened from anything to police/fire/ems and local buses to my actual college’s security.

I am a member of many local scanning forums for my area and surrounding areas and a member of RadioReference, which in the radio scanning community, considered the meeting place for scanner listeners.

So I’ve always assume, that radio scanner listeners are not bad people. I’ve even met law enforcement officers, fire, and EMS workers that have even joined in listening to other agencies.

Lately, I’ve been running in to a lot of people (civilians), who say that scanner listeners are just noisy people listening to information that is no concern to them. I even met one ex-police officer that said the information, especially on the EMS, is of no concern to anyone, and that listeners cause problems, yet I catch him with a scanner now, LoL.

So how do you feel? Are we scanner listeners actually good people or trouble?
I don’t really listen and be like yay, this person is in trouble. I just am amazed at how easily or maybe hard emergency services get people to safety.

On 9/11 it was interesting to see how hard the workers worked, but it sucks how bad their communication was.
